Question from customer:
I bought aluminum composite panel one year ago. Now the house decoration is done. I tried to peel the
protective film off but failed. How to solve this problem?
Answer:
The protective film applied on aluminum composite panel is with a adhesive layer which is actually in
contact with the panel surface. The adhesive layer has certain adhesion. Under normal circumstances,
the protective film is easy to peel off. The reasons of difficult removal are many. One reason is that
because the panel with film has been stored for too long time under unsuitable condition. For example,
in summer, the aluminum composite panel is stored under high temperature. The adhesive layer is
under “semi melting” condition so the adhesion to ACP panel increases. So the film is hard to be
removed.
If the area is not too big, you can only be patient and try to remove the film bit by bit. When removing, the
speed should be slow. The peeling direction should be perpendicular to the panel.
If the area is big, you can use a shape knife to make some parallel lines on the protective film with gaps
of about 10cm. The strength should be mastered well and make sure not to cut through protective film.
Otherwise the aluminum composite panel will be damaged. You can test on unused ACP first. If the
strength can not be controlled well, please don’t do it.
Besides, you can try to use a iron to iron the protective film surface. (Attention, the temperature should be
moderate. Temperature can not be too high. You can test and get the proper temperature.) After ironing,
try to peel the film off slowly.
One more convenient way to solve this problem. Pad a layer of cloth or paper on the protective film. Then
blow hot air with air dryer for a while and you will find it is easier to peel the film off.
Even use above methods to remove the film, still there may be a little residue left on the panel surface.
You can use kerosene or alcohol to wipe the left residue.
