RFQ: What problems of protective film will arise in use? Reasons and solutions
RFQ: What problems of protective film will arise in use? Reasons and solutions

Nowadays, the role of PE protective film is widely known, mainly in the production and transportation of products, which plays a very good protection role for products.

Therefore, it is widely used in various electronic products, hardware machinery, wire and cable industry.

However, in practical applications, PE protective films often have some problems due to differences in manufacturers, differences in product quality, or incorrect use methods.

Let’s see the five major problems of PE protective film.

Problem 1

The problem that users reflect the most is that there is residue after protective film is peeled off.

This problem mostly happens to aluminum profile protective film.

When the users finish installation and construction and peel the film off the profiles, the adhesive doesn’t go with protective film but leaves on the profiles.

This is not what the users want to see.

Because it is very difficult to clean the residue.

Someone needs to scrape the glue from these profiles, which is a waste of time and money.

There may be many reasons which cause this problem.

But the main reason is that the pressure sensitive adhesive is not proper.

The adhesive is too sticky, so the external tension is bigger than internal stress which causes the residue on the profile.

If users encounter this problem, you can use a clean cloth dipped a little alcohol and wipe on the residual adhesive repeatedly until the adhesive is wiped up.

Attention that do not wipe too hard when cleaning the residue, otherwise you may affect the finish of profiles.

Problem 2:

PE protective films do not stick on substrates firmly, so during transportation and application, the films fall off.

This is just the opposite to above problem 1.

The greatest possibility is that the glue adhesion is not strong enough.

The other possibility is that the pressure is not big enough when applying the film.

Or the profile surface is not clean but with dust, paint and etc.

These all affect the adhesion of glue.

If encounter this problem, just need to replace a protective film with stronger adhesion and make sure that the surfaces of substrates are clean, therefore to avoid such problem.

Problem 3:

After the protective film is in use for a period of time, the performance of the middle part is good, but the two ends fly up.

The main reason for this problem is that the stretching degree is too big when applying the film on substrates.

Once the film is applied and it will shrink in high temperature environment.

This problem happens mostly in warm areas.

So when producing the PE protective film, manufacturers need to consider the impact of environmental temperature.

And users should avoid unnecessary stretch when applying the film.

Problem 4:

It is difficult to peel off the protective film.

The profiles are installed so users try to remove the protective film.

However it can not be peeled easily or completely.

There are two possible reasons.

  • One reason, the protective film is not with special adhesive which should be used for producing protective film. If so, the protective film can be easily applied, but it will be very difficult to be peeled off. This is a common problem of protective films which are produced by some illegal manufacturers.
  • The other reason is that the PE film is too soft to bear to peeling strength, so the film break up during peeling. This is a problem that gives users a headache.

Problem 5:

PE protective film can be effectively peeled off, but the printing on the protective film transferred to the profile surface.

Some low-grade protective films often cause this problem.

When the protective films laminate on substrates, in a suitable environment with sunlight and water, photosynthesis causes the printing transferring.
